Cash for science park

A SCIENCE park based near Runcorn is to receive an additional £24.6million investment.

The donation, by the Northwest Regional Development Agency (NWDA), means the NWDA have now pledged a total of £50.3million to Daresbury International Science and Technology Park since 2003.

A significant part of this investment will fund the UK's National Centre for Accelerator Science, to be known as the Cockcroft Institute, which will be based at Daresbury.

NWDA chief executive, Steven Broomhead, said: "This multi-use, multi-purpose science park of international standing will attract world-class research and commercial operations that will make a significant contribution to the regional economy."
