Park and ride bus plans

BUS services linking Warrington to Chester and Manchester have been proposed.

If the plans go ahead, people would be able to leave their cars in park and ride services at motorway junctions in Warrington before getting buses up the M56 hard shoulder to their destination.

The plan originates in a study of transport problems along the motorways to Manchester.

The 'C Net' study looked at congestion on the M6 and connecting roads, and also at routes between cities that are not well served by trains.

It analysed two routes between Stoke and Manchester - and a further route between Chester and Manchester with Warrington as a possible pick-up point.

The study concluded this particular route 'would generate the most passenger usage, attracting road users out of their cars by offering a high quality bus alternative'.
