FUNDRAISERS at St Rocco's Hospice are urging the public to take the ultimate challenge and complete a mind over matter firewalk task.
And hospice staff are even braving the hot coals themselves in a bid to encourage others to do the same.
Personal assistant to the director of the hospice, Jenny Snodgrass and Lesley Groom from St Rocco's appeals team (pictured right) will both be taking part in the challenge on Saturday, September 10, at the Dog and Partridge pub in Woolston.
Each participant will have two and a half hours of training before being led out from the training area to walk over 20ft of pine, ash and oak broken down into a smooth red hot path.
Walkers will take approximately four to six steps to reach the end.
Mrs Groom said: "Surprisingly it doesn't burn your feet. Everybody's experience is unique. The hardest thing to overcome is the fear itself and taking that first step on to the coals.
"After the training you can still opt out of the walk. But if you can walk on fire - what else could you achieve?"
For more information or a registration form call St. Rocco's Hospice on 575780.
If you would like to sponsor Jenny and Lesley please call the appeals department on 579226.
