Help is at hand to keep out the cold

BOROUGH Mayor Maureen Grant launched a bold new project to help local homeowners stay cosy during the winter.

The Warmer Walls project has been set up to target solid wall houses, and offers a discounted wallpaper-style insulation designed for the DIY market.

The aim of the project is to tackle fuel poverty in the borough's homes, and also provide healthier and more comfortable living conditions for residents.

Speaking at the launch, Cllr Grant said: "Solid wall properties are one of the hardest types of homes to insulate, so this scheme should provide some valuable help to the community."

There are also discounts and grants available for loft insulation, draught-proofing, condenser boilers and many other measures to cut fuel bills and improve conditions in the home.
