Make it hard work for car thieves

SANDBACH residents are being urged to make sure their cars are locked after a sudden increase in thefts from vehicles.

Police in Congleton borough have reported a rise in thefts from cars and vans due to people failing to lock doors and leaving their valuables on display.

Community Action Team officer Tony Hayes said: "Please remember to lock all doors and windows, set the alarm or immobiliser and park your vehicle where it can be seen, even if you are just popping into a shop for a couple of minutes.

"Remove everything and place it in your boot or take it with you.

"The car thief doesn't know whether it's valuable or not until they have stolen it."
