CREWE Wolves saw their season ended with a big upset in the RLC North West Divisional Shield Final.
Last weekend saw a major shocker for Ian Roberts and the rugby league boys as Blackpool Sea Eagles came through to win 48-24.
Crewe must have fancied their chances of silverware after booking a final spot with a 30-16 victory over the same opposition, last month.
But this time it was Blackpool's day after an entertaining yet rugged match.
Crewe's hopes of repeating their win in 2004 were in serious jeopardy after the Sea Eagles grabbed six first-half tries.
Valente (2), Sibley, Campbell and Clark all crossed the line with Lord posting a try and four goals to set up victory.
Two for Evans either side of the break initiated a Crewe revival and a hard fought second half ensued but Woodburn had the final say for Blackpool who will now go on to the national stages to take on Lincoln City Knights.
Although disappointed, Wolves chairman is pleased with the club's progress this season.
"The North West Division is setting high standards and Crewe will have to keep improving," he said.
"But after six seasons we are happy with our progress.
"To become the best, you have to play the best.
"Congratulations and good luck to the Sea Eagles for the rest of the competition.
"Thanks to all involved with our club and a special mention to Crossfields ARLFC who stepped in to salvage the season by providing a ground."
