Opportunist thieves

plundering hot houses

OPPORTUNIST thieves are taking advantage of Padgate and Fearnhead residents who leave their properties unsecured.

The recent hot weather has led many homeowners to keep windows open for long periods during the day and even at night.

During the hot, summer months, open windows and unlocked doors are providing crooks with easy access to homes that contain purses, wallets, handbags and car keys.

Burglaries have been committed while people have been in the back garden and windows and doors have been left unsecured.

In recent weeks, several premises have been subject to burglaries by opportunist thieves because doors and windows have been left open or unlocked.

Police advise that residents keep their windows and doors closed and locked in unoccupied rooms and especially when the property is empty.

Burglary can be extremely distressing for the victim and just a few moments thought can prevent the heartache of having your home broken into.

Anyone with information about these recent crimes should contact DC Mick Gee on 01244 612645 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
