Composure the key

WOLVES' lethal weapon Martin Gleeson is going into the Huddersfield game calling for more composure when the team reaches the try line.

That is the main lesson the international centre, pictured left, believes the team need to learn from the defeat to his former side St Helens as they prepare to face his first professional club tomorrow night, Friday.

He said: "To get the win at Huddersfield we've got to do all the basics right, just like all the top teams do. We've got to get out of our half, get to the kick and put in a big chase. I thought we did that pretty well against Saints.

"But we've got to be more composed when we get to the try line and so we need to worry about our game rather than Huddersfield's.

"We got to Saints' try line but then let them off quite easily. We just seemed short of a few ideas and I don't know why that was - but we've got to pick that up."

Successive home defeats to the top two clubs in Super League, Leeds and Saints, have given Warrington notice of the work that has to be done if the team are to realise their dream of reaching the Grand Final.

Gleeson said: "We're excited at fighting for third spot and we know we've got to raise our game because there's a pretty good player (Andrew Johns) coming in at the end of term and we want to be impressing when he gets here."
