Attacker hunted

THE hunt is on for an attacker who stabbed a 21-year-old man with a syringe.

David Round anxiously awaits blood test results after the hypodermic needle was plunged into his arm following a night out clubbing in town.

The victim walked down an alleyway near Big Bar on Bridge Street when a man approached asking for cigarette papers.

Mr Round declined and the attacker lunged the syringe into his arm on June 19.

The man is described as scruffy looking with a beard. He wore thin-rimmed glasses, a brown waistcoat and rigger boots.

He is believed to be about 50 to 60 years old and was smoking a long wooden pipe.

Anyone with information or who recognises the man should contact PC Mark Smith on 01244 613860 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
