Councillors to visit steel drying site

PLANS to erect a steel drying building on land between the River Mersey and a railway line have been put on hold while the borough council arranges a visit to the proposed site.

Development control committee members voted to visit the site this Friday before making a decision on whether to approve the application.

The proposal has been made by Warrington Fabrication Company, of Athertons Quay.

The exact location of the proposed building is currently used as a yard area serving adjacent workshops and used for metal fabrication.

The building would be used for drying steel prior to fabrication and would not contain any machinery except lifting beams.

Two letters of objection have been received by the council along with a seven signature petition opposing the proposal due to increased noise pollution. But council officers recommended that members approve the application with conditions.
