Daniella's fund is already topping £12,000

FUNDRAISING events for little Daniella Sidley-Brooks have brought in almost £12,000 in just a matter of weeks.

Daniella, aged three, has a rare form of cancer, and an appeal is aiming to raise the £350,000 needed to fund medical treatment in the USA.

Daniella has just completed five weeks of chemotherapy at Birmingham Children's Hospital after undergoing surgery to remove part of a tumour.

In two weeks' time she will begin a three-week course of daily radiotherapy.

Numerous events have been held locally to support the appeal, including a lunch on Sunday at Lawton Memorial Hall, which raised £1,314.

Alsager Round Table has pledged £2,000 to the appeal, and the Spar shop at Talke collected £106.

The Wacky Warehouse in Alsager has added £252 to its initial collection of £41.

Daniella's mum Joy is a professional opera singer, and is to perform in a concert for her daughter at North Stafford Hotel in Stoke on September 9.

Tickets are £7 for adults and £5 for children.

"I speak to Joy several times a week, and she is overwhelmed by people's kindness and generosity," said Angela Davies, who is co-ordinating the local collection for Daniella, who is pictured above right.

Angela's daughter Susannah is pictured above at Sunday's lunch with fellow Church Lawton Primary School pupils Katie Grocott, Ella Baskerville, Elliott and Sam Fernyhough and teacher Clare Millward.

Katie and her mum Paula are organising a sponsored walk for the appeal.

Anyone who would like to support the appeal can ring Mrs Davies on 01270 874170.
