Join in the town's new dig

THE Middlewich Archaeology Project is about to unearth its second phase.

Following a period of site evaluation and survey, a number of trenches have now been excavated and from Monday professional archaeologists and volunteers will be able to get their hands dirty as excavation of the trenches in Buckley's Fields begins.

Middlewich town clerk Jonathan Williams, who was instrumental in securing the £24,718 funding for the project, said a timetable has now been devised for the dig.

Volunteers can join excavations from August 8 to 13, 15 to 20 and 22 to 27.
