Catches ever-Green despite cold weather

WHAT a climate we have at home!

Throughout last week, temperatures struggled to get into the 60s and at this time of the year we do not expect to have to put an extra cover on the bed or light the fire - yet we had to.

Did these temporarily low temperatures affect the fishing? I think not, if this week's Lymm Angling Club reports were a true representation.

Member Karl Green enjoyed a very, very busy two hours on New Pool, landing 90 or more skimmers in his short session.

Karl can catch fish well and not all will catch at his rate, but with a little thought and bait alternative, anyone could have a haul like Karl's.

The very next day on the adjacent Spring Pool, David Wynne landed five silver orfe (ide) to 4lbs, a bream of 3lbs and numerous rudd and roach.

David was fishing pole tactics with maggot and caster on the hook, fished high in the water.

Village Pool, Farm Pool, Grimsditch Mill Pool, Sandy Pool, Manor Pool and Monks Moat are producing well, with some good catches reported on each.

The rivers are also continuing to produce, with improving barbel catches reported on the River Dane and River Severn.

Chub are also being reported in numbers, with this week's biggest report from our River Severn stretch at Rossall weighing in at 4lbs 3ozs 0drms. It fell to member Kyle Ludlow, who was ledgering a huge piece of cheese.

Again, I have very little new information on the carp disease running rife in Cheshire, although there is as yet unconfirmed information under the stewardship of officials Paul Rylance and Craig Wheeldon.

I can be contacted on 411774, but be prepared to leave a message.
