New man for service

MERSEY Regional Ambulance Service has announced the appointment of an interim chief executive following the departure of Janet Davies to a new post.

Alan Murray - who has extensive ambulance service experience - joins the service after an eight-year stint as managing director for a pre-hospital care and medical transportation firm.

He said: "Clearly there are some significant challenges for the Trust but I am certain there is a real commitment from all there.

"I have also witnessed many green shoots of real improvement and progress already underway despite its latest star ratings review.

"I am confident I can help to make a significant difference in helping the service bring about the necessary improvements needed in delivering a more effective service for patients."

Mr Murray takes up the post from tomorrow, Thursday.
