Healthy Halton walkers

HEALTH walkers from across Halton braved the rain last week to join long distance walker Pete McGowen on part of his journey across the north west.

People from Halton walked along the Trans Pennine trail in Widnes from Spike Island to Pickering Pasture as part of the Government North West project, Stepping Out.

Cllr Phil Harris, Executive Board member for Leisure and Sport, said: "Anyone can take part in these walks and I would encourage people to try it out for themselves."

Many of the walkers were members of Halton Healthy Living's On Prescription scheme, which aims to help improve fitness levels and promote a healthy lifestyle.
