Why can't we look after our wildlife?

WE READ almost every day about making Crewe a nicer place to live.

I agree it needs improvements in the town and other areas, but they could be done around the monument.

There's a fountain in Crewe Cemetery and last year was the first time I've seen it working. Before this it used to be a lovely pond with fish, until someone pinched them.

The same with Queen's Park. I used to love walking my dog around and meeting people, and feeding the swans. But the Park has gone downhill, you see birds hanging from a branch with fishing line. The geese with line tied around both legs, and a male swan, his bill with hook and line hanging from it so he cannot eat or drink. Hence some idiot shot him and he had to be put down.

Then you would see floating fish, dead ducks in the lake. This year someone, or should I say idiots, threw benches in the lake and smashed the greenhouses.

I don't call this fun at any age. Is this normal? I don't think so.

Even some dog owners walk their dogs around and let the dogs foul and leave it. The bins are nearly always full of other rubbish instead of dog dirt. They foul the park and streets and alleyways.

They want a better place to live, well clean up after themselves. I'm sure they would not like it dumped in their yards, or would they?

They don't want to be responsible for their actions or is it that they just don't care?

Last year I picked up one binbag full of fishing line, from by the lake and asked the fishermen to take their snags home with them, the responsible ones do anyway, thank you for that.

Before anything else dies, think. The wild life needs to be protected, it's free and for everyone, so take care of it.
