SUPER PLAN FOR TOWN'S SURGERIES

PLANS have been revealed to build a multi-million-pound 'super centre' in Winsford to replace the overflowing doctors' surgeries.

Winsford Health Park will provide a range of services currently unavailable in Winsford, as well as incorporating all of the doctors' surgeries in the town under one roof.

The super centre means patients will no longer have to travel to Leighton Hospital for services such as minor operations, blood tests and physiotherapy.

Nicola Morgan, Central Cheshire Primary Care Trust (CCPCT) facilities manager, said: "This is going to be an absolutely marvellous facility that will greatly improve health care in Winsford.

"People will no longer have to travel into hospital for many things because they will have this superb facility on their doorstep.

"There will be a built-in gym, minor operations suite and pharmacy, so it really is going to be brilliant for the town."

The Winsford Health Park is being developed in direct response to concerns by GPs working in the town who were struggling to cope.

Mrs Morgan said: "They were crying out for more space because they were overflowing and using every room they possibly could.

"They were struggling so they came and told us, and the centre will be an enormous help to them by being able to increase the services they can offer."

Winsford GPs first contacted the Primary Care Trust back in 2002 with their concerns over the lack of facilities in the town.

Mrs Morgan added: "They have been in this right from the start.

"They are the ones who are leading this - we have just provided them with the expertise to do it."

CCPCT is now finalising plans for Winsford Health Park and it is hoped a planning application will be submitted in the next few months.
