Wardens earn new plaudits

COMMUNITY wardens in Vale Royal have been recognised as some of the best in Britain.

Vale Royal Borough Council's team of six wardens has been awarded a quality standard with distinction by the government-backed Neighbourhood Renewal Unit.

The team tackles issues like anti-social behaviour, environmental crime and youth nuisance on estates across the borough.

Clr John Grimshaw, lead councillor for community safety, said: "The wardens are certainly making a difference in the communities they are working with.

"This award is independent confirmation that the service is well managed and delivers results."
