Swimmer wins new backing

VALE Royal Borough Council's gold star sponsorship scheme has awarded a grant to an up and coming swimmer.

Harriet Milne, 12, from Northwich, has won medals at the National Junior Disabled Championship and National Open Championship and has been selected for the Disability World Class Start Programme, which identifies future international swimmers.

The Gold Star Sponsorship gives financial assistance to individuals to help them prepare for, and compete in, prestigious events.
