Firefighters warning over wheelie bins

FIRE crews are warning residents in the Wellfield Street area to only leave their bins out when they need collection following a spate of arsons.

Warrington Fire Station has received a number of calls in recent weeks to put out bin fires.

The latest came at 9.05pm on Thursday.

A fire service spokesman said: "We are asking residents to be vigilant and perhaps only put their bins out the night before they are due to be collected."

Police will also step up patrols of the area.
