SCULTHORPE SEEKS 1,000 SAINTS POINTS

PAUL SCULTHORPE of St. Helens needs four points for a career total 1,000 for the Saints.

His 996 points have come from 100 tries and 302 goals, including eight drop goals in 201 matches.

A former Waterhead amateur, Sculthorpe signed for Warrington in October 1994 and made his senior debut for them as a 17-year-old substitute in a 58-22 home League defeat of Salford on 26 March 1995. He made nine substitute appearances before starting at stand off in a 40-6 League defeat at Leeds on 30 August 1995.

In December 1997 he was transferred to St. Helens in a record deal for a forward reckoned to be worth £370,000. Saints paid £300,000 cash to Warrington, who also received £70,000-rated Chris Morley. Sculthorpe made a two-try second row debut for St. Helens in a 56-24 Challenge Cup win at Featherstone Rovers on 15 February 1998.
