Bear on board

HE'S the best travelled toy in Halton.

Linnet Bear, Runcorn FCs answer to Michael Palin, has racked up more than 70,000 miles.

His adventures were the brainchild of match programme editor Derek Greenwood.

Inspired by the globe-trotting Gnome from the hit French film Amelie, he decided to chronicle the travels of a Linnet Bear the Koala.

The aim is for him to visit as many countries as possible - and also meet some famous people!

He has already been to Hong Kong, Hawaii and to Australia twice - complete with a mini-kit made by Derek's wife.

Derek, 56, still goes every home Runcorn FC game even though he now lives in Lancashire. He grew up in Saxon Road and went to The Grange Primary then Helsby Grammar.

Linnet Bears future travel plans are unknown - but he would like to try out skiing.

Fans going on holiday with a spare place for Linnet Bear should email Derek@RuncornFCHalton.co.uk.
