Lake fountain protests seemed to bring out the publicity seekers

FURTHER to your recent article in the Guardian titled 'Stench of Failure'.

May I point out that Nantwich Independent Councillors were opposed to the fountain and the cost of £20,000 and requested that other ways be found of aerating the lake.

No other political party opposed the fountain, or joined with us to voice any concerns, we were on our own.

It was interesting to see the picture of residents, and note the Conservative Parliamentary Candidate and the Cheshire County Council Candidate, neither of whom live in Nantwich or close to the lake. Obviously jumping onto a publicity bandwagon similar to the CAB and Barony Road Post Office - What next? More publicity but very little action or results.

The problem with the fountain is a Borough Council problem, certainly nothing to do with the County Council or Parliament, but of course I forgot, there are Elections for these two bodies in May.
