Maths win

MATHEMATICAL marvels from Sir John Deane's College have figured out the way to achieve national success in a testing challenge.

The 13 students who are all studying A-level maths at the college pitted their wits against almost 70,000 competitors to excel in the UKMT Senior Maths Challenge.

This annual competition is the biggest maths contest in the country for students aged between 16 and 19 years old.

Gold certificates were awarded to students in the top 6.5 per cent, silver to the next 12 per cent and bronze to the next 21 per cent.

Head of maths at the college Lil Edwards said: "We are very proud of the students who took part in the maths challenge and are delighted that 13 were awarded certificates."
