Not asking our opinion is out of line

A FRUSTRATED resident believes the installation of double yellow lines at a Winsford junction will create more problems than it will solve.

Keith Adkins, 51, of High Street, is disappointed that double yellow lines have been reinstated at the junction of Moss Bank with the A54 Oakmere Road because now he has nowhere to park.

He said: "I'm really annoyed about this because no one bothered to ask us for our opinions on this.

"I used to park my car there so now I will have to park even further away from my home because there is no other provisions for parking.

"It isn't so much the fact that they have painted the lines in but that they didn't consult with the people that it will affect."

The comments have follow a report in last week's Guardian in which many residents and councillors expressed delight at the news.

The junction had been banded as 'extremely dangerous' and resulted in incidents of road rage.

But Keith does not think the yellow lines will solve the problem.

He said: "We are going to have to park somewhere so it will just move the problem somewhere else.

"Clr Des Worthington didn't bother to ask me about this and now there is nothing I can do about it.

"I can see where they are coming from with this but I think they are over exaggerating the problem a bit.

"I don't know of any incidents of road rage happening there."

Keith is also worried the lack of parking will affect the price of his property.

He said: "Who would want to buy a house that had no parking nearby?

"If we were to decide to move then I think this would affect the value of our property."
