Wolfie's column...! A word from everyone's favourite mascot!

HELLO, pawmates! You all know me! I'm your favourite rugby league club mascot, Wolfie! And I'm here to tell you about the exciting things that are happening here at Warrington Rugby League Club.

You know me - I love to promote lots of healthy exercise and at Wolves, we're getting ready to launch our cool new Fit Kids scheme. This project aims to encourage and raise levels of activity among you youngsters.

It's for Years 4 and 5 as well as Years 9 and 10 and will include cricket, netball and gymnastics as well as

rugby of course! It promises to be loads of fun so keep your eyes peeled for more information.

If you can't wait until then, how about joining one of my many junior rugby clubs? Our Warrington junior rugby league club scene currently has eight junior clubs running a total of 48 junior teams. That involves

a whopping 800 youngsters! For 'she-wolves' - our popular 'Girl Power' programme, devised by Great

Britain international Jane Banks, goes from strength to strength with the new Town Team. Find a club near you and get involved. You never know, you could be the next Lee Briers or Jane Banks!

Here at my wolf lair - otherwise known as the Halliwell Jones Stadium, we have just seen the installation of a new Playwall sponsored by Philip Williams Insurance. These things are hugely popular in America where they are taking off bigstyle.

They are great fun as well as helping you become more physically active. You really have to be able to use your paws, claws, eyes and ears all at the same time - just like a wolf!

The Wolves are more than just a Rugby League Club! As well as guiding people into a range of sports, I have recently teamed up with Halton Kelly to create an Arts Competition. 'HOW - House Our Wolf' -

encourages young artists to paint, draw or sculpt a picture of where I might live. I can't wait for it to

start and see what you think my house might look like - but please don't put me in Widnes!

One of my favourite memories from 2003 was seeing my old friend Kevin Tamati and 170 of his school

friends all performing the Warrington Haka before the Wolves versus New Zealand 'A' team. It was a

brilliant sight - but scary too even for a tough wolf like me!

2004 was a very busy year. I've promoted the benefits of healthy eating, taken part in the 'Ouch! That's Hot' campaign to warn about electrical safety and helped recruit more Lollipop personnel. This year

promises to be just as busy and I'm really looking forward to meeting more of my fans out and about!

Contact the club if you want more info about all these projects and I am sure my helpers will be only too

happy to assist!

Have a grrrrrreat day - Wolfie!
