High school dinners raise cash for fund

l GENEROUS pupils at St Gregory's High School gave up their dinner to raise funds for tsunami victims.

The school caf served soup and a roll for 50p so pupils could donate the rest of their money to the fund. A total of 170 pupils chose this option, which, when added to other charity collections, brought the total to £1,254.87.

The money will be given to Warrington Hospital, which is sending a team of doctors and nurses over to Indonesia to help in the relief effort.

l CUSTOMERS of the Swan pub in Winwick raised £1,600 for victims of the tsunami.

Bar staff asked people paying to add an extra pound on to their bills for charity and also ran a raffle. The cheque was paid into Winwick post office for the DEC appeal.

l A JEWELLERY sale in Burtonwood raised a bumper amount for victims of the tsunami.

Just more than £1,600 was contributed, which has now been added to charity funds from the St Michael's New Year's dance and Sunday collections, making a total of £2,500.

The money has gone to the Disasters Emergency Committee and Christian Aid.
