A gritty issue is resolved

RESIDENTS in Winsford are delighted that a grit bin has been installed to help keep the roads and pavements safe during the cold winter months.

Over4All Residents' Association has got the grit bin installed on Pentland Close after more than a year of campaigning.

Alan Halpin, former chairman of the residents' association, said: "When we first started this was one of the main issues of concern.

"It was one of the main reasons why we actually started the residents association.

"It has been a long time coming but it is great that we have finally got this thing in place."

The bin was donated by Middlewich chemical company BIP Organics.

John Roche, general manager, said: "We are a chemical company so health and safety is essential to our business.

"We reached the milestone of 10 years without a time loss accident and this seemed like an appropriate way for us to recognise this achievement.

"It was great to meet the residents who will benefit from this."

Alan Bailey, chairman of the residents' association, said: "We are extremely grateful to BIP for doing this and hopefully it will be put to good use in the future."
