Tutor braves heat for charity

A MID-CHESHIRE College tutor Helen Armstrong has raised £1,600 for charity after cycling for 270 miles in the scorching heat of Cuba.

Helen, an IT lecturer, travelled a route from Havana to the hills of Vinales with her friend Judy Alderson, after they both decided to give up their Christmas break to do something for Macmillan Cancer Relief and the Music Fund for Cuba.

The two-week trip was a major achievement for the pair, who had only taken up cycling earlier in the year, and they are already planning their next challenge.
