Waste collectors' decision angers Hazel

RUDHEATH:

A RUDHEATH woman says waste disposal collectors lifted bin bags out of her wheelie bin, put them on the pavement and drove off.

Hazel Stephens, of East Avenue, said for the amount of effort it took the men, they could have thrown it into the back of the lorry.

She said: "I asked them why they had put the rubbish on to the pavement and they said my bin lid wasn't down properly.

"By the time they arrived at lunch time I had added another two bin bags to the bin. I don't know why they can't find the effort to throw them in the back of the lorry."

A borough council spokeswoman said all bags should be contained safely within the container so as not to cause a health and safety problem when emptied.

She said: "Any bags of waste which are not secured safely will be removed and placed by the side of the bin.

"Through effective waste management all potential problems with excess waste can be avoided."
