Amy's water problem 'has lasted two years'

A WINSFORD woman believes she does not receive adequate service from Weaver Vale Housing Trust because she is not married and does not have children.

Amy Garner, 24, of Alamein Drive, has been complaining to Weaver Vale Housing Trust for two years about her boiler and believes repairs would have been carried out quicker if she did not live alone.

She said: "Because I don't have children I am told I'm not a priority but that shouldn't be the case.

"I pay my money just like everyone else does so I'm entitled to the same service."

Amy says she has been without hot water on numerous occasions during the past two years and has requested improvements.

She said: "I go without hot water for days and the most recent case was last week. It really affects my quality of life.

"If I had a family, I genuinely don't think I would be going through this.

"I feel terrible having to go round to friends and family just to have a shower and it causes a lot of inconvenience and means I lose my privacy."

Amy does not believe the financial crisis that has hit Weaver Vale Housing Trust has anything to do with her current situation.

She said: "I don't think the trust's overspend has got anything to do with it.

"The quality of service has really disappointed me because I don't seem to be getting anywhere.

"If it was any other type of person that was receiving a poor service because of their personal situation there would be uproar but it seems like it is acceptable for people like me."

Ray Terschowetz, building services manager for Weaver Vale Housing Trust, said: "Our boiler repair procedure states that as the property has a secondary heating source an engineer will be sent out within seven days.

"In this case we successfully completed the repair within 48 hours.

"We are always disappointed when tenants choose to contact the press rather than discuss matters further with the trust."
