Car customers told that they will not lose out

PEOPLE who have bought cars from a Winsford dealership have been reassured they will not lose out despite the company being placed into receivership.

Dickinson Brothers dealership, based on Over Square, called in the receivers last week after being hit by financial difficulties.

But one customer, who did not wish to be named, is worried he will lose money after agreeing to buy a car from Dickinson Brothers.

He said: "Anyone who placed an order prior to that should get their car either through them or, worst case scenario, via another dealership.

"But if you wanted to cancel your order you would lose your deposit. Also in order to get your car now you have to pay for it the day before."

Stephen Smith, of Baker Tilley, has been appointed as the receiver for Dickinson Brothers and confirmed all 38 members of staff would be kept on.

He said: "We have had a few expressions of interest and we hope we can sell it on as a going concern.

"We have retained all employees."

Mr Smith also reassured customers that they can still buy vehicles from the dealership.

He said: "Anyone who wants to go there today can do so and buy a car because it is business as usual.

"I am hopeful that this can be a very successful business in the future and that is what we are working towards."

Dickinson Brothers sells Mazda and Citroen cars from its Winsford showroom and is one of the area's oldest independent car dealerships.
