Collision leaves a man dead

POLICE are appealing for witnesses after two people from Bunbury, near Tarporley, were involved in a road traffic collision in which a 29-year-old man died.

The incident happened at 12.25am on Saturday at the junction of the A51 with the A49 at the Red Fox traffic lights.

A white Ford Fiesta van driven by a 29-year-old man from Derbyshire collided with a blue BMW driven by a 41-year-old from Bunbury.

The driver of a white Ford Fiesta van died at the scene.

The female passenger of the BMW received a broken wrist and the driver was uninjured.

The road was closed until 5.45am.

A spokesman for Cheshire Police said: "We are appealing for witnesses and are keen to hear from anybody who may have witnessed the collision itself or may have information that could assist the collision investigator."
