On the payroll

A CHARITY is calling on businesses in mid Cheshire to take advantage of a scheme that will benefit vulnerable children in the area.

Barnardo's was one of the first charities to introduce the payroll giving scheme. The charity is currently celebrating its 100th anniversary.

Payroll giving is easy to set up and is the most tax efficient way to give to charity.

The donations come straight from employees' gross pay and the tax that would have been claimed goes directly to the charity instead.

Luen Thompson, head of fundraising in the north west, said: "We are eager to maximise this opportunity as payroll giving is one of the easiest and most flexible ways to give to charity. Just a small amount each week given through your payroll can really make a big difference to children's lives.

"This form of giving provides Barnardos with a reliable source of ongoing income, enabling us to offer long term solutions as well as immediate care to the region's most vulnerable children, young people and families."
