Fast food chain rolls into mid Cheshire

ONE of the fastest growing fast food chains has chosen Northwich as the location for its first outlet in mid Cheshire.

Sandwich specialists Subway opened on Witton Street as part of a £100,000 investment last Wednesday and it is hoped it will be the first of many in the area.

Store owner Garry Loveless, 31, believes the chain is growing in popularity and will be a good investment for him. He said: "There will be more Subway stores than McDonald's in three to five years. It is becoming more popular because it is a healthier option than many other places."

Garry decided to buy a Subway franchise after his brother visited one in Australia.

He said: "He told me how nice it was so I looked into it on the Internet and spent the next six months researching.

"I went to stores and sat there with a cup of coffee assessing the flow of customers."

Once Garry decided he wanted to invest in a Subway franchise he was put through a rigorous training programme.

"I went on a two-week training course in America to learn how to run a Subway store. It was extremely thorough, especially in the area of hygiene and I had to take an exam at the end of it."

The Witton Street store - which has created 14 full and part time jobs - will not be the only Subway outlet in mid Cheshire for long.

Garry said: "I want to open another store in Northwich, one in Winsford and another one in Congleton.

"There is going to be a lot of television advertising for Subway in the near future and the chain is going to go massive, so I'm just pleased to be a part of it."
