Baghdad bound

JUST hours after Ali Baba dame Stephen de Asha entertained crowds in a fun filled panto, set in old Baghdad - he flew to Iraq!

RAF photographer Stephen, 24, of West Bank, Widnes will be helping British troops in their peace mission, in a reconnaissance role.

John Yates, who took part in the panto, said: "It went very well.

"Ironically, RAF man Stephen was posted to serve in Iraq the day after the panto finished."

A 70-strong cast performed Ali Baba and the 40 thieves at St Mary's community centre to packed audiences on three nights.

Ali Baba, a poor wood cutter, suddenly becomes rich when he stumbles on a thieves' cave full of treasure.

A magical genie protects him as villains try to recapture their lost booty.

It was the fifth annual production by West Bank panto group.
