REFEREE FOR CARNEGIE WORLD CLUB CHALLENGE CONFIRMED

Sean Hampstead will referee the Carnegie World Club Challenge between Leeds Rhinos and Canterbury Bulldogs at Elland Road Stadium (Friday 4th February 2005 - ko 8pm).

The Australian has officiated in one Test match and two State of Origin matches and has a wealth of experience gained in Australia's domestic competition.

Hampstead's appointment is the first following an agreement between the Rugby Football League and the NRL which will mean that Australian and then British referees will take charge of the World Club Challenge in alternative seasons.

The process involved the NRL nominating a panel of three match officials from which the RFL chose Hampstead.
