Emergency cash saves Citzens Advice Bureau

AN emergency payment of £10,000 has been approved by borough council leaders to rescue Crewe and Nantwich Citizens Advice Bureau

The organisation had requested help in meeting its core costs to enable services to be maintained at current levels and avoid office closures.

The council is the only organisation that provides core funding for the service, which it awards in the form of an annual grant.

The authority's board member for the community, Maureen Grant said: "I am glad that we have been able to provide some additional support for the Citizens Advice Bureau which delivers a much-needed service for our community in helping to access unclaimed benefits and reduce debt, as well as managing a wide range of other projects.

"This will help to ensure operating hours do not have to be cut in the immediate future."
