Stary, stary night

FILM students at Crewe's South Cheshire College will be joining stars at the glitzy screening of their new movie in March.

The showbiz-style bash will be held at the Lyceum Theatre, where students will mingle with cast members including Alexei Sayle and Norman Lovett for the preview.

Just My Luck, which also features Phil Cool, Clive Mantle and Hildegand Neil, is a feature length film produced by the college and the Cheshire Youth Film Project.

Stars of the film will roll up to the screening in limousines, just like the Oscars, where they will be greeted by members of the public before entering the theatre.

Lecturer and director Andrew Walkington said: "The preview screening marks the start of what we hope will be a very successful journey for the film.

"This is the first screening of the completed version and the preview is a chance for students and members of the cast to celebrate all their hard work and reflect on what they have achieved.

"Once it has been screened locally we want to take it on a step further and send it to some of the major film festivals in the world including Cannes and Edinburgh.

"Some of the biggest film experts in the business attend these festivals and they will then decide whether the film should be screened as a premiere.

"If we get to that stage it will be a tremendous achievement for everyone concerned."

A string of VIPs have been invited to the March 1 preview and the celebrities from the film, thought to be the first of its kind in the UK, will also attend the launch.

Andrew added: "We believe we have created a film which is entertaining and will appeal to a large audience.

"Over a hundred students have sacrificed time and energy to produce a professional product for a professional market place and we are confident that the film can be very successful."
