ALSAGER Town made Crewe Alex fight all the way on Tuesday night for a cup final place.
Alsager were on equal terms until the last three minutes of a dramatic Cheshire FA Senior Cup semi-final at their ground.
The match was tied at 1-1 before Crewe scored the winner following a free kick contested by the Alsager players.
Sutton scored from close range off the free kick, but Alsager battled back, and were unlucky not to make it 2-2.
Stokes saw a shot cleared off the line, and seconds later Fraser unleashed a volley from 30 yards which produced a superb save from the Crewe keeper.
The Crewe side boasted eight players with first team experience, and they were rocked on 12 minutes when Alsager took the lead.
Espley put his side ahead by finishing off an excellent move, his shot from 20 yards flying past a bemused keeper.
Alsager should have gone further ahead on the half hour when the Crewe keeper dropped a high cross at the feet of Heler, but his shot hit the post.
Crewe hit back to equalise seven minutes before half-time, White scoring with a header following a corner.
Alsager keeper Powner kept the scores level with an excellent save just before the break.
