ALSAGER Town produced a superb display on Saturday to take a point off the league leaders Fleetwood Town.
Alsager fought back twice to earn a 2-2 draw on their own ground following a dramatic ending to the match.
Fleetwood took a 2-1 lead a minute before the end of the game, but Alsager replied immediately with their second equaliser of the afternoon.
"We deserved at least a point, and all credit to the players for coming back twice," said Alsager manager Greg Clowes.
"We were the better team on the day, created more chances, and Fleetwood were rattled by us."
Alsager controlled the majority of the first half, during which they produced some excellent attacking play.
They created numerous chances, notably from Grocott, Grice and Heler.
The visitors made several probing attacks, but they were easily dealt with by the Alsager centre backs Elks and Brotherton.
Alsager went close to taking the lead when a goalbound header from Parkinson was kept out by an excellent save from the Fleetwood keeper.
The second half was more evenly contested, Alsager creating chances but being off target with a number of efforts.
Fleetwood took the lead on the hour, Thompson's shot hitting the post before falling to Stevens, who had the easy task of tapping it into the net.
Alsager keeper Powner made two top class saves to deny first Catlow then Stevens, and Alsager made it 1-1 with 10 minutes left.
They broke away, and Grice got a touch onto a flick from Brotherton to score.
Fleetwood regained the lead on 89 minutes through substitute Brown, who tapped the ball into the net via the post.
However Alsager were not beaten, and Elks headed across goal following a corner for Stokes to rise well to head home.
The drama continued until the final whistle, with both Fleetwood full backs being sent off, for two bookings and foul language.
Alsager have another big game tomorrow, when they travel to Colne in the quarter final of the League Cup.
