A WINSFORD mother believes the problem of dog fouling is getting worse and poses a serious health risk for children walking to school.
Jackie Roberts, 31, of Rosewood Drive, has called on dog owners to be more responsible and for the council to clamp down on the problem.
She said: "I was walking home from school with my daughter and saw someone just let their dog out of their car and wander round.
"The route from my house to Over St Johns Primary School is awful and round the school itself is just disgusting."
The comments have come a week after Mike Kennedy, chairman of the Grange Residents' Association, highlighted the problem of dog fouling in the Guardian.
He said: "Having to pick your way along a pavement covered in droppings is obviously distasteful and, quite naturally, many people fear their children will come home with their shoes or hands daubed in dog faeces."
Mrs Roberts said: "They are arriving at school covered in it but trying to get dog owners to be more responsible is just flogging a dead horse.
"As a parent the health risks associated with it are worrying because I don't want my child spending all day at school with their hands, shoes and clothes covered in it.
"I would like to see the council provide more dog waste bins but they can't force people to use them."
