Footballing star's home up for sale

THE Whitegate home of a football star is up for sale.

The Paddocks, currently owned by Newcastle United assistant manager Dean Saunders, is on the market for £1,400,000. Mr Saunders once played for Liverpool and Derby County as well as representing Wales at international level.

He was until recently assistant manager at Blackburn Rovers before following Graeme Souness to Newcastle United this season.

The Paddocks is described as a detached villa style bungalow with five bedrooms, three reception rooms, heated outside swimming pool, floodlit tennis court, sauna and substantial lawned gardens.

There is also a stable block with provision for horses.

A spokesman for Bridgefords, the estate agent responsible for the sale, said: "We are delighted to offer this magnificent villa-style detached family bungalow set within the highly sought after village of Whitegate.

"The property, built in 1991 by Walter Lawrence, has a wealth of features to be enjoyed."
