Action plan will tackle car parking outside shops

AN ACTION plan has been formed by Cuddington and Sandiway parish councillors to alleviate car parking problems outside the Mere Lane shops.

A group of parish councillors visited the shops to see the problems for themselves, and after a discussion they will present their plan to Cheshire county councillor Andrew Needham with a view to improvements being made.

At present problems occur because cars have to back to the other side of the road to get out of the bays. There are also cars parking on the pavement and the green.

Parish chairman Clr Ken Nixon said: "The present bays in front of the shops are not deep enough. We should take them up to one metre to give people a better chance of backing out with no danger of going over to the other side.

Parish councillor Gerry Card said: "We need a few more parking spaces, two at one end and one at the other end and move the whole pavement back one yard."

There were also suggestions to have more disabled parking spaces and take away part of the footpath on Fir Lane and put in angled parking there.

Clr Nixon added: "I would hope if we get these improvements that we are asking for that a lot of the problems will go away."
