Eagles grounded by the skill of Sandbach

Sandbach A U8 4 TATTON EAGLES U8 1

THE final score does little to accurately reflect just how evenly matched the two sides were with neither team being able to dominate the other.

The game got off to an explosive start with wave after wave of attacks from the visitors.

The home side quickly regrouped, engineering a series of counterattacks for themselves.

In terms of both ball possession and territorial play there was nothing to separate these two talented teams. Angus Kitcher and Jacob Potts were exceptionally lively in attack, managing to create a string of goal scoring opportunities only to be denied by some courageous goalkeeping.

Although the Eagles played with plenty of ambition and enterprise they were unable to establish supremacy over their illustrious and capable opponents.

Tim Sanders and Sam Proctor proved to be a tigerish defensive line with both players snapping at the heels of the Sandbach forwards with several ferocious tackles.

The mercurial talent of Sam Holah produced another dazzling display with one exceptional slalom type run culminating in a rasping drive with a goal only being denied through miraculous goalkeeping.

The Eagles' own goalkeeper, Tom Shepherd, was superb throughout the game producing a number of fabulous saves in a performance that rightly earned him man of the match.

The improving talents of Greg McLoughlin and Richard Mason also turned in fine displays with some attractive football.

There was another exceptional display from Robbie Allatt who maintained his enthusiasm and commitment throughout despite having a goal disallowed.
