Digging in ...

INMATES from Thorn Cross Young Offenders' Institute in Appleton Thorn have been lending a hand to the creation of a rose garden for residents of a Padgate estate.

Stuart Bright, chairman of TAORA, The Avery and Orange Grove Residents' Association, employed the services of eight inmates to help with painting, digging and erecting a greenhouse.

The rose garden will be situated on the estate and enjoyed by residents.

Mr Bright said: "They've done a really good job and we're very grateful to them. They've done all the hard work for us so now we just have to finish it off."
