Liberal Democrats score double win

WINSFORD has two new representatives on Vale Royal Borough Council after yesterday's by-elections in the Verdin and Swanlow wards.

The Verdin ward will now be represented by Clr Peter Gannon who received 336 votes. Labour's Derek Wright polled 188 and Conservative William Hall received 72 votes.

The Liberal Democrats were also successful in the Swanlow ward with Brandon Parkey coming out on top with 326 votes.

Conservative Anthony Dahill received 183 votes while the Labour candidate Stephen Smith won 157 votes.
