55th celebrations turn into a grand way to fundraise

TURNING 55 is a landmark for anyone but one Callands man decided to raise £10,000 for charity in celebration of his birthday.

Peter Graham-Johnson, of St Asaph Drive, chose to raise the massive amount in just 12 months, after learning about an appeal for terminally ill children.

The Kirsty Appeal is represented by nine-year-old Kirsty Howard, who was born with her heart back to front and in 1999 was only given six weeks to live.

On Friday, January 21, from 7.30pm, Kirsty will receive the cheque for £10,000 at Peter's 55th birthday party and charity evening, which will be held in St Oswald's social club, Padgate.

The money will contribute to the Kirsty Appeal that is raising funds for the Francis House hospice.
