Susan serves up the write stuff in Your magazine

A WINSFORD writing enthusiast has had one of her articles published in a national magazine and hopes it will be the first of many successes.

Susan Stag, of Redshank Avenue, recalled her memories of a cookery class she attended in 1960 and was shocked to discover Your magazine featured the story in its end of year special edition.

Susan, 64, said: "I couldn't believe it when I received the letter.

"It is the fact that I have got my work published that pleased me more than the financial rewards.

"It is an entertaining article to read because I recall some very funny incidents that happened while I was on the course.

"I think a lot of people will be able to relate to the story and hopefully now it is in a major magazine it will have a large readership."

Susan has always liked to write but it was not until she enrolled on a creative writing course at Verdin College that she began to fulfil her potential.

She said: "It has been a great help for me since I joined because there is no pressure and you really do develop your skills.

"I'm really pleased for my teacher Olwyn Dean, because my success is in a large way down to her hard work."

Susan hopes this achievement will encourage other people from her generation to join a creative writing course.

She said: "It's never too late to start and I'm really pleased I gave it a go.

"The classes are extremely enjoyable and you learn a lot.

"I'm now looking forward to writing some more and hopefully I will have some further success in the future."
