Green grounds to refuse wind farm

A PROPOSAL to build a wind farm in Tarporley should be refused on environmental grounds, according to Eddisbury MP Stephen O'Brien.

Mr O'Brien, shadow secretary of state for industry, visited the site at Oxleys Farm on Friday to assess the impact the wind farm would have on the area.

He said: "A large number of people have written to me raising concerns about the proposals to erect three wind turbines at Oxleys Farm.

"It was important that I took this opportunity to view the proposed site, study the exhibition and proposals in greater detail and discuss their potential impact with the applicants.

"Of course the landowners are within their rights to reply - it is up to all of us in the community to take a view within the democratic process of planning procedures.

"After careful consideration I believe that this is not a suitable location for a development of this type.

"Their impact on the landscape, environment, property prices and residential amenity in my view would be unacceptable and I will therefore be giving objectors to these proposals my full support."
